THE CLOG THAT KEEPS COMING BACK

If You've Cleared This Drain Before, You Haven't Actually Fixed It.

A drain that clogs once is bad luck. A drain that clogs every few months is a pattern — and store-bought drain cleaner has never once solved a pattern. Apex Plumbing Services finds out why it keeps happening and clears it properly, across Southern California.

The Real Reason Drain Cleaner Stops Working

Store-bought drain cleaner punches a small hole through the middle of a clog — just enough for water to squeeze past. It doesn't remove what's actually stuck to the pipe walls: grease film, soap residue, mineral scale, or the first thin roots of an intrusion that hasn't fully blocked the line yet. The hole closes back up within weeks, sometimes days, and the drain "clogs again" — except it never actually got clear in the first place. If this is the third or fourth time you've dealt with the same drain, the clog isn't the problem. What's coating the inside of the pipe is.

KNOW WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY PAYING FOR

We Show You What's Actually in the Pipe — Not Just What We Guess

Instead of quoting a fix based on symptoms alone, we run a video camera through the line first whenever the cause isn't obvious. You see exactly what we see: root intrusion, a bellied section, grease buildup, a cracked joint. It's the difference between "we think it's roots" and "here's the roots, on screen, right now." You approve the fix knowing precisely what you're paying to solve.

Twenty-seven years of clearing drains taught us the pattern homeowners rarely notice themselves: it's almost never the same clog twice. It's the same buildup, clogging again. We stopped treating symptoms a long time ago.

Emergency Response

WHAT ACTUALLY FIXES A RECURRING PROBLEM

We'd Rather Explain the Cause Than Just Clear the Symptom

A lot of drain cleaning is a five-minute snake job and an invoice — which is fine, until the same drain clogs again next season and you're paying for the same visit twice. We'd rather tell you honestly when a snake will hold and when it won't, even if that means recommending the more expensive jetting service less often than we could get away with.

We Diagnose Before We Quote

A camera inspection when the cause isn't obvious, not a guess.

We Tell You When Snaking Is Enough

We don't upsell jetting on a clog that doesn't need it.

Tell Us What's Happening

First time, or the third time this year? That alone changes our approach.

We Find the Actual Cause

A camera inspection if it's not obvious, before we recommend anything.

We Clear It the Right Way

Snaking when that's genuinely enough, jetting when the buildup calls for it.

We Tell You What to Expect Going Forward

Whether this should be a one-time fix or belongs on a maintenance schedule.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Questions Behind "Why Does This Keep Happening?

Find answers to common questions about drain cleaning, methods, cost, and how to know when it's time to call.

I've snaked this same drain three times this year. Why does it keep clogging?

Because snaking clears an opening through the blockage, not the buildup coating the pipe walls that's causing it. If the same drain keeps clogging, the buildup is still there — hydro jetting removes what snaking leaves behind.

Is hydro jetting safe for older pipes?

For most pipe materials, yes — but genuinely fragile or already-damaged older lines need to be inspected first. This is exactly why we camera-inspect before jetting when a pipe's condition is unknown, rather than jetting blind.

How do I know if I need a camera inspection, or if a plumber can just tell by looking?

If the cause is obvious (something visibly went down the drain that shouldn't have), a camera usually isn't necessary. If it's a repeat clog with no clear cause, a camera is the only way to actually know what's happening instead of guessing.

Is drain cleaning something I should do on a schedule, or only when there's a problem?

Both approaches work — reactive service handles clogs as they happen, but a scheduled cleaning (roughly every 18–24 months for most homes) tends to cost less overall than repeat emergency visits, especially for homes with older pipes or grease-heavy kitchen use.

Can tree roots really grow inside a sealed pipe?

Yes — roots don't need an open pipe to get in. They follow moisture through hairline cracks and pipe joints, then thicken once inside, eventually blocking the line from the inside out.
